After over a year and a half since the building was demolished, the foundation stone for the new building of the Podgorica elementary school ‘Vladimir Nazor’ was laid earlier today. The deadline for its construction is 17 months.

The headteacher Ljiljana Markovic said that their pupils who had to study in other schools coped well with the situation. She thanked both the parents and pupils for their patience, as well as the schools who enabled them to attend classes.

The Minister of Education, Miomir Vojinovic, told that “it’s known that the deadline for construction is 17 months, when the pupils are going to sit at their tables”.

He also added that a total of 20% of funding was provided from the state budget, while the rest was provided by various organizations and donations.

The outgoing Prime Minister, Dritan Abazovic, said he was sorry that the construction didn’t start earlier, but that he was satisfied because the promise was fulfilled – it still started in August. According to him, construction works may finish before the set deadline with the help of partners who take part in construction.

As reported earlier, the project will cost €6.5 million.
