Three kilometre long tunnel will be excavated by modern machinery, the installation of which is to begin soon.
The Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) which will construct the first section of the highway – Smokovac-Uvac-Matesevo – plans to start works on minimum four locations. Preparation works are slowly coming to an end. For the time being, it is certain that major works will commence in September, including the construction of the tunnel Vjeternik.
Chinese engineers plan to excavate a part of the tunnel by December in order for their workers to be able to smoothly perform inner works during winter, including the construction of retaining walls and strengthening of the entire structure.
