Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published detailed requirements for obtaining short-stay (C) and long-stay (D) visas. Foreign nationals may apply under clearly defined rules and documentation, with special provisions outlined for digital nomads.
A short-stay visa (C) allows transit or stays of up to 90 days within 180 days and may be issued as a single or multiple entry. Required documents include a valid passport, photo, proof of purpose of stay, financial means (at least €50 per day), health insurance, and payment of the consular fee.
A long-stay visa (D) is intended for stays longer than 90 days and up to 180 days per year, including business purposes, work in diplomatic or international organisations, and digital nomad activities. Digital nomads must provide an employment contract with a foreign or self-owned company, proof of company registration abroad, and evidence of sufficient funds and accommodation. The Ministry stresses that all listed documents are essential for assessing visa eligibility.
