When it comes to foreign policy, Montenegro can look up to Slovakia. Small countries must develop strong ties with everyone, said vice president of Slovakian Parliament Andrej Hrnčiar.
He said that after the membership in NATO, membership in EU is all but certain.
“There is no alternative to European integrations when it comes to the region of Western Balkans. It is of great importance that Montenegro becomes a part of organizations that share European values. Montenegro’s progress is pushing the whole region forward”, Andrej Hrnčiar said for Pobjeda.
He said that negotiations with EU are not an easy thing for a country, as it is a complex process that demands absolute concentration.
“Montenegro is making progress towards EU, and you can see that, if someone puts in the effort, Brussels appreciates that and rewards it”, Hrnčiar said.
He underlined the need for small countries such as Montenegro and Slovakia to lead balanced foreign policy.
“It is not always so simple. Russia is having issues with NATO expansion. On the other hand, Montenegro in NATO is a guarantee of safety, and security of your borders. However, we must all try and have better relations with Russia”, Hrnčiar said.
