The Government’s decision to call for tenders for the lease of beaches and facilities in the marine property zone caused fierce reactions among former lessees and businessmen of coastal municipalities. Mayor of Ulcinj Genci Nimanbeg also wrote to Prime Minister Milojko Spajic on this occasion.

The Association of Beach Lessees, the Ada Bojana Association and the Restaurant Association are organizing a protest today in front of the premises of the Agency for the Coastal Zone Management in Ulcinj at 10 a.m.

Lessees and businessmen point out that price increases will be directly reflected in the prices of beach furniture and catering services, which will make Montenegro uncompetitive compared to the countries of the region. This will all lead to an enormous increase in the accommodation prices on the Montenegrin coast, they stress.

The Ada Bojana Association and the Association of Beach Lessees warn that, if the decision is not withdrawn, protests will be inevitable, and as a final step, they do not rule out blocking the ferry.
