If the warning is not enough, there will be fines

Skupština Crne Gore

Administrative Board will suggest in the following days to the Parliament of Montenegro to start imposing fines on the Members who failed to obey the Ethical Code, said Luiđ Škrelja, the President of that Board.

“Everybody who was given public warning will also be punished by a fine, within the deadline of ten days. That is going to be an item on the agenda at the next session of the Administrative board”, said Škrelja.

Legislative Board of the Parliament of Montenegro adopted last year consolidated text of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament of Montenegro which envisages high fines for the MPs who act inappropriately in the highest legislative dome, and not only in the plenary hall but in other premises in the Parliament too.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure, a member of the Parliament who has been warned, will be punished by 10% reduction on the salary. If a member of the Parliament has been warned twice, his/her salary goes down by 20%. If several measures have been imposed on a Member of the Parliament, only the highest one will be applied. The decision in the amount of fine will be rendered by the Administrative Board.

If such rules had been in force at the time of intense verbal (and almost) physical conflicts at the Parliament, members of the opposition would have remained without one salary.
