Imports nearly 4 times higher than exports

According to the preliminary data from the MONSTAT Statistical Office, the total foreign trade of Montenegro for January-March 2023 amounted to €1.034bn, which indicates a growth of 21.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

“Export of goods had a value of €215.3m, and imports €818.8m. Compared to the same period of the previous year, exports were higher by 8.2%, and imports were higher by 26%. The coverage of imports by exports amounted to 26.3% and was lower compared to the same period of the previous year when it amounted to 30.6%”, MONSTAT says.

In the structure of exports according to the standard international trade classification, mineral fuels and lubricants were the most represented (€130.7m).
