Improving the economic relations of Montenegro and Jordan

Montenegro and Jordan should work on further improvement of the economic relations of the two countries. The Agreement on Economic Co-operation between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is of great importance, the director of multilateral and regional trade cooperation and foreign economic relations Goran Scepanovic and the Ambassador of Jordan Fawwaz Al-Eitan agreed at today’s meeting.

As the Ministry of Economy stated, Al-Eitan expressed interest in better understanding the investment environment in Montenegro and assessed that the presence of AGADIR countries (the Free Trade Agreement between Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia) in the Montenegrin market should be greater.

Also, the officials showed openness for Montenegro’s accession to the market of the AGADIR member countries.

Scepanovic presented conditions for investing in Montenegro, emphasising that domestic and foreign investors have the same treatment.

Montenegro, he added, is constantly working to improve the business environment in order to become more competitive and more attractive to foreign investors.

Scepanovic also presented support programs for investors that are continuously implemented by the Ministry of Economy, adding that other government departments carry similar measures from their respective areas.

The economic situation in Jordan was also discussed at the meeting. According to the ambassador, the situation is very difficult due to the large influx of emigrants from Syria and Palestine.
