According to information news agency Mina-business gathered from workers, the new furnace in the steelworks hall overheated.
Executive Director of the Toscelik company, Guray Guzeler, said in March during the control hearing at the session of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Labour and Social Welfare, that the company is complying with all laws relating to the safety of employees in the workplace and environmental protection.
“In 2010 there were 47 injuries, in 2011 – 35, in 2012 there were 19, in 2013 there were 16, in the last year seven, and this year – five injuries”, explained Guzeler.
Speaking at the hearing organized on the increasing number of injuries, he said that since 2012, when the Turkish company took over steelworks in Niksic, services related to protection at work have been provided by an external company.
“In 2012, on the day of June 18th, there were a total of 267 employees. That number is now 334. In December and January we had about 20 employees absent due to sick leave and that’s how overtime hours happened in the steel mill”, said Guzeler .
