Indictment against former EPCG and A2A officials amended

Viši sud, Podgorica

The Special Prosecutor’s Office submitted to the Higher Court in Podgorica an amended indictment against four Italian nationals charged with the criminal offense of Abuse of Office.

In February, the High Court returned the indictment to the Prosecution on the grounds of “administrative shortcomings”. On January 16, the Special Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment involving former EPCG executive director Enrico Malerba, former finance directors Flavio Bianco and Massimo Sala and former CEO of A2A, Renato Ravanelli.

The Italians are charged with misusing their official position when signing a contract on consulting services thus damaging the Montenegrin Electric Power Company (EPCG) for millions of euros in favor of Italian companies A2A, A2A Reti Elettriche and BAIN Milano. In a settlement process three months ago, A2A returned EUR 4.34 million for consulting services.
