Podgorica High Court confirmed an indictment against the former mayor of Podgorica and the ambassador of Montenegro to Slovenia, Miomir Mugosa. He is charged with abusing of office in the Carine case, thus costing the state budget about €7m.
An investigation against the former mayor was initiated after the experts made an estimate of the harm that was caused by the deal concluded in 2007 between the Municipality of Podgorica and the Carine company Cedomir Popovic.
Mugosa is charged with abusing of office as mayor and deciding to grant the rights to use the city construction land to the Carine company without a public procurement procedure.
Two parcels of 8,000 and 7,000 square meters were sold to Carine for €165 per square metre, although the transfer of rights to urban construction land could not be made through a direct contract.
