Today, the Council of Prosecutors has rejected the indictment proposal by which the disciplinary prosecutor requested the dismissal of the head of the High State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, Lepa Medenica, due to, as alleged, inappropriate influence on the prosecutor of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office, Vukas Radonjic. At the beginning of the session, it was decided that the session would be held without the presence of journalists.
The disciplinary prosecutor submitted to the Council of Prosecutors the proposed indictment requesting the dismissal of Medenica, due to inappropriate influence on the work of colleagues.
It is also added that in the factual description of the submitted indictment proposal, it is stated that Medenica allegedly acted contrary to the Law on the State Prosecutor’s Office, but no specific norm that could possibly be violated is specified.
Bearing that in mind, the Council of Prosecutors decided by a majority of votes to reject the proposed indictment in question.
Earlier, the Minister of Justice, Marko Kovac, demanded that the Council of Prosecutors dismiss Medenica, with the assessment that she exerted undue influence on colleagues from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica – Vukas Radonjic and Nikola Boricic, in the case of an investigation into the opening of borders for Veljko Belivuk and Marko Miljkovic.
According to their statements, this behavior of Lepa Medenica represents an inappropriate attitude towards an employee of the State Prosecutor’s Office, which is the basis for the dismissal of the head of the State Prosecutor’s Office, pursuant to the Law on the State Prosecutor’s Office and it represents an unusual practice in the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office, especially considering the importance of the case itself.
