Inspectors in the Administration for Inspection Affairs have shut down 16 facilities and confiscated €4,3 million worth goods, said yesterday the first man of the Administration, Mr Alija Košuta. Inspectors have imposed nearly  €3,9 million of fines in six Montenegrin municipalities.

Increased supervision in Ulcinj, Bar, Budva, Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi was carried out by 70 inspectors from Tourist, Market and Health and Sanitary Inspection. They carried out 17.306 controls and identified 9.530 irregularities.

“Due to the identified irregularities, 16 facilities have been shut down. With the aim of eliminating irregularities, inspectors have taken 2.877 measures, adopted 2.568 solutions on eliminating irregularities, issued 10.199 offence warrants collecting €3.885.620 of fines”, pointed out Mr Košuta.

Competent courts received 61 requests for initiating misdemeanor proceedings.

“Our primary goal was to ensure protection of people’s health and to contribute to suppression of grey economy”, said Mr Košuta.

In other Montenegrin municipalities, known as tourist centers, supervision was organized through domicile inspectors and mobile teams imposing fines to the value of almost €4.300.000.

“At the level of Montenegro, there were 21.034 controls which found 11.364 irregularities”, said Mr Košuta.

Institute for Public Health carried out drinking water monitoring in hospitality facilities which are not connected to public water supply grid, as well as in those facilities which are connected to water supply grid.

“Fifteen samples did not correspond to the rule book in force, due to increased quantity of iron and manganese. There has also been microbiological irregularity”, said the representatives of the administration.

As far as the employment is concerned, labor inspection recorded 1,185 working persons who don’t have employment contracts and who have no mandatory social insurance.

“After Labor inspection took specific measures, employment contracts were concluded with 275 persons, and they had their employment status regulated in accordance with the law”, explained Mr Košuta.

Tourist Inspection paid special attention to the supervision of vessels in Virpazar, Skadar Lake, Port of Kotor, Perast and Žanjica since the grey economy flourishes right in this sphere.

“The result of the supervision in Skadar Lake is 90 concluded contracts between the national park and the shipping companies”, said the representatives of the Administration.

A great number of irregularities were identified in bathing areas, which lacked beach equipment and sufficient number of rescuers.

“Inspectors have established that 94 bathing areas became operational without the necessary documentation”, said the representatives of the Administration.
