Montenegro Parliament Speaker, Mr Aleksa Bečić, met with Italy’s Ambassador to Montenegro, Mr Luca Zelioli, and noted there was a need that we all “rise above personal and party interests, because the interest of Montenegro and its citizens must be a priority that has no alternative.”
Emphasizing that Italy has proven its friendship, Mr Bečić thanked the Ambassador for Italy’s strong support for Montenegro’s path to the EU and voiced satisfaction over the continuous development of relations between the two countries.
He also reminded of the importance of regional cooperation within many multilateral mechanisms, primarily the Central-European Initiative, CEI.
Ambassador Zelioli pointed out the importance of intensifying bilateral parliamentary ties between Montenegro and Italy, and expressed expectation that the two countries would keep up with the cooperation through partnership in NATO and future EU membership.
Both sides considered possibilities for the continuation of a quality parliamentary cooperation and regular communication between Montenegrin and Italian MPs through future friendship with both houses of the Italian Parliament.
