Will the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, after ordering the placing of Russian nuclear deterrents in a high state of readiness in the previous days, really carry out his threat given on 24 February 2022 and bring the world into a situation “unprecedented”? Is President Putin bluffing when he says that “the organizers of any provocations” against the Russian aggression on Ukraine will “regret as they never have”?
Former Russian Foreign Minister Andrei Kozyrev, who called President Putin’s army “Potemkin’s Army”, does not think that the Russian president will reach for “nuclear weapons”. “I do not believe that Russia would use nuclear weapons, I believe that Putin is a rational actor.”
Retired professor of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, psychologist Zarko Korac, thinks similarly. Without denying that we are currently witnessing the biggest crisis since the WWII, which, as he says, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally took care of, prof. Korac says in an interview for Pobjeda that Putin, the man who he spoke to as Serbian Deputy Prime Minister during Zoran Djindjic’s term, is more rational than it seems at first glance.
