He said in an interview to Pobjeda that politics of expansion must continue, because that is the most successful politics of European Union.
Answering the question about big nationalistic ideas still existing in some nations in Balkans and whether they can endanger the security Ivanov said that there are many such dreams and that they could be very harmful.
„Those ideas are not dead, they live among people, but as the Balkans moves towards Europe there won’t be much room for these ideas. We all want to live in a big country and we will all llive in European Union eventually. My grandmother lived in one village all of her life, and she changed seven different countries. We all dream of living in peace and in a stable country”, he said.
Ivanov congratulated Montenegro on its direction towards EU and NATO because it is now evident that an invitation will come at the end of this year.
„Success of Montenegro is a success of all the region. That is very important because our past filled with victims, suffering, traumas and conflicts should serve as a warning. That is why this region which was full of conflicts in the past needs Euro-integrations. That is why success of Montenegro is also a success of Macedonia”, he said.
Asked if the argument of Macedonia and Greece over name will ever end, he said that it’s a never-ending show, and that it’s been slowing down Macedonia’s progress for over ten years.
