Chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic assessed that a special war was still being waged against him and the Speacial Prosecutor’s Office (SDT).
“This new form of special war has several dimensions. One manifestation of it is trying to present SDT as an institution without equal, but rather selective approach to everyone, which is not true. The other is insisting that the chief special prosecutor cannot perform his duties due to his past, which is also not true,” Katnic said appearing on the Iz Pravog Ugla (From the Right Angle) TVCG show.
He added that it was clear that there were foreign elements involved in all the things. As he said, the elements have been labelled as Russia’s nationalist circles, represented by the accused Russian citizen Eduard Shishmakov.
“The special war is aimed at preventing SDT from being at right path,” said Katnic.
As Katnic said, the court found that there is a reasonable suspicion that the defendants committed the criminal offenses they have been charged with.
“The pieces of evidence we presented are not contradictory with other pieces of evidence,” Katnic said, adding that the evidence was obtained in a lawful manner.
Katnic said there were certain BIA (Serbian Intelligence Agency) statements that could be used in court proceedings.
He reiterated that the prosecutors had irrefutable evidence for the conviction of the accused in the coup case.
When it comes to money laundering case, Katnic said that the leader of the Movement for Changes (PzP) would be examined if his immunity was lifted. PzP leader Nebojsa Medojevic has been suspected of money laundering in this case.
“There are elements indicating he should be remanded in custody,” Katnic said, adding that it is now only a hypothetical thing, which would be decided about after the potential hearing.
