Knezevic: DNP withdraws support from the government and Podgorica city leadership

Milan Knezevic, leader of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP), announced that the party is withdrawing support from Prime Minister Milojko Spajic’s government and from the Podgorica city administration led by Mayor Sasa Mujovic. DNP representatives in the government, Milun Zogovic and Maja Vukicevic, have resigned from their executive posts. Knezevic said he will discuss the future of the For the Future of Montenegro coalition with NSD leader Andrija Mandic.

While the move does not threaten the stability of the national government, it could destabilise the ruling majority in Podgorica, where DNP holds four council seats crucial to the city’s slim majority. Knezevic said the party has not abandoned its principles and will continue advocating constitutional changes, amendments to the citizenship law, and opposition to the wastewater treatment plant in Botun.
