Knežević’s protest in Nikšić turned into a fiasco

Last night, the anti-government movement “Do slobode“ [“To Freedom“] gathered around 50 supporters in Nikšić and all speakers mostly repeated statements that Montenegro’s ruling coalition blocked Nikšić’s and Montenegro’s development and that our country, even though spared from war destruction in the 90s, cannot recover. Ever.

“One man privatized the State, he sold literally everything and even attacked the Serbian Orthodox Church! We gathered tonight in his hometown to tell him we would stop him,” said Goran Rašović, who made an introduction speech last night in Nikšić, according to Pobjeda, a daily.

There were even more speakers at the last night’s protest, and after all of them the controversial businessman, Duško Knežević, who is on a Montenegrin Interpol arrest warrant, addressed the protest via video call. Mr Knežević told he enabled many people to educate themselves in Montenegro, brought investors and admitted he “feels guilty of all that”.

“President Đukanović is hiding his own crisis by paying visits across Montenegro. Metropolitan Amfilohije Radović is the most popular person in Montenegro and if only he blessed the protests, Milo Đukanović won’t be in power for longer than 24 hours,” Mr Knežević said.
