After seven hours of search, Dutch tourists Antonius Francisus Johannes (1961) and Maria Agnes Petronelle (1966) who lost themselves in the Biogradska forest have been found.
Members of the Kolasin Civil Protection and Rescue Service Boban Brkovic, Miljan Bulatovic and Zoran Bulatovic, as well as members of the Protection Service of the Biogradska Gora National park Dragovic Janko and Radenovic Teofil, took part in the rescue operation.
As they said, they received the first call from police at 4:28pm. The police gave the location of the lost tourists.
They immediately started the search in the Stitarica river area, but with no success. It turned out later that the location sent by the tourists was not correct, since many tourists turn away from marked paths in order to see as much as possible in the park.
The search for the tourists continued in the Jezerstica riverbed, which was the right move.
After extremely bad weather conditions (the area was hit by strong wind and heavy rain), at about 10pm, the tourists from the Netherlands were found and transported to the Biogradsko lake safe and sound.
The Biogradska Gora National Park urges all visitors once again to follow marked paths, as well as to use the services of licensed guides.
