Kommersant: Đukanović willing to improve relations with Moscow

Đukanović

Milo Đukanović,  the new President of Montenegro, advocated for the Euro-Atlantic pathway during his campaign, but he also expressed his readiness to establish good relations with Russia, writes Kommersant.

According to the Kommersant, Đukanović’s main thesis during the presidential campaign was the “European Montenegro”. Otherwise, independence of Montenegro and its NATO membership would be called into question.

At the very end of his campaign, Đukanović directly sent a signal to Moscow, expressing his willingness to improve Russian and Montenegrin relations which considerably worsened with Montenegro’s accession to NATO.
