You can have higher earnings only if you have higher productivity. If you do not have higher productivity, then someone will rightly suggest that you increase salaries on grounds that are not basically economic, said Rasko Konjevic, Secretary General of the Montenegrin Association of Employers (CUP).
In the Epicenter show on Gradska RTV, Konjevic pointed out that he could not advocate the thesis, which could be heard in the previous period, that only the increase in gross salaries, not net salaries, was caused by inflation.
He states that he cannot comment on the Europe Now 2 programme from the point of view of employers until he sees the programme.
“Today, we could possibly comment on certain statements of ministers and other government officials who referred to the Europe Now 2 programme. It is difficult to go into details at the moment, except for what the proclaimed goals were, which were defined through what one of the political structures had in their pre-election campaign. You don’t have a clear programme and measures, which it legislatively entails. I have understood that the Government has given itself the task of passing one very important document, namely the fiscal strategy, which, in accordance with the Law on Budget and Fiscal Responsibility, is generally adopted in the first year of the Government’s work. I have understood that this document is now being drawn up, and it is of specific importance, because it is the only document that is required by law and that it is not adopted by the Government, but by Parliament”, Konjevic said.
In that fiscal strategy, he says, there should be key announcements of reform and other moves of the Government that it plans to make in four years and make an overview of where the Montenegrin economy is today and what needs to be done through reform matters.
