Konjević published the alleged draft law on state prosecutor’s office

Konjević

The Leader of the SDP, Raško Konjević, posted on Twitter the alleged harmonized draft amendments to the Law on State Prosecutor’s Office, submitted to the European Commission and the Council of Europe.

The draft suggests, among other things, that the prosecutorial council may dismiss the chief special prosecutor on the proposal of the parliament, following the discussion on the regular annual report, special or periodical reports, or if chief special prosecutor fails to submit the afore-mentioned reports in the ways and within the time frame set out by the parliament or a competent working bodies dealing with justice, corruption or security issues.

“The text allegedly aligned with the EC. If this is aligned with the recommendations of the Venice Commission, then the sea is not salty. Not to ask why the “already-aligned” law was sent for further alignment. Did the government determine the text – that’s another question,” Mr Konjević noted.

He also commented on today’s reports of Vijesti writing that the essence of draft amendments to the proposal for the Law on State Prosecutor’s Office was to strengthen the role of the prosecutorial council and control high-ranking prosecutors in the parliament and focus more on work results.
