According to a professor Zarko Korac, the ‘Open Balkans’ project starts to look more like an idea comprising two merged projects: Greater Serbia and Greater Albania project. It’s interesting, Mr Korac says, that the idea of the ‘Serbian World’ has been hidden under the Open Balkans idea, which resembles the policy of Slobodan Milosevic and the demise of former Yugoslavia.

“The Open Balkans project is an utterly political project with no specific meaning. The Tirana meeting aimed to facilitate customs procedures. What they discussed afterwards, that there’ll be a free labor market, looks like a science fiction to me. It’s a thoroughly prepared project, unfortunately backed by the US but no so much by Europe,” he noted.
