The Democratic Montenegro’s representative Vladimir Jokic, a 29 year old law graduate, is the new president of the Municipality of Kotor, the Municipal Assembly decided on Tuesday. Thus, Kotor got the youngest municipal president in the modern history of the city.

Jokic was supported by 17 councillors, whereas 16 councillors voted for DPS candidate Aleksandar Stijepcevic.

In his first address, Jokic said that he would analyse the situation in the city realistically, and present all the problems, but also advantages to the public as a bare truth, no matter how painful or unpleasant it was.

“Because it is the only way to determine the methods and terms of solving those problems without self-deception. Only in this way we will show our love for Kotor. We are reduced to a provincial level tailored by mediocrities satisfied with the picture of themselves and the degraded city. That will be ended here and now,” said Jokic.

As he added, the future administration will have zero tolerance for corruption and abuse of municipal property.

Jokic was born in Kotor, where he graduated from high school with honours. He got his university degree at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade.

He did an internship in the “Ernst & Young” Beograd in 2012, and performed duties related to labour, commercial and tax law.

From 2010 to 2014, he served as assistant attorney at the law firm Petkovic in Belgrade where he particularly specialised in the commercial and sports law.

Since 2014, he has been in charge of legal affairs in the Kotor-based accounting agency Jokic 4V DOO.

Since 2012, he has been the co-owner of the Belgrade-based company ABPM Sport Agency DOO, which provides consulting services in the field of sports, law and the economy and develops internet start-up projects.

Jokic is the president of the Democrats’ Kotor municipal committee and a member of the party’s executive committee.
