The Socialist People’s Party (SNP) will definitely not have its own presidential candidate, says the Minister of Justice Marko Kovac in a guest appearance on TVCG’s Link show. Commenting on the decision of the State Election Commission (DIK), which did not verify the candidacy for president of the Europe Now movement leader Milojko Spajic, Kovac says that “DIK could not remain silent when the information appeared that Spajic has citizenship of another country”.
In the coming days it will be decided which presidential candidate SNP will support at the party bodies, he adds.
“My personal position is that support should be given to the candidates who come from the parliamentary majority having won on 30 August”, says Kovac, mentioning the leader of the Democrats Aleksa Becic and one of the DF leaders, Andrija Mandic.
Kovac believes that DIK had to perform certain checks.
“The problem is the selectivity in the approach”, he says and adds that all other candidates about whom there are certain allegations about possessing other citizenships should be checked.
He believes that Spajic is the most responsible for this DIK’s decision.
