Kovacevic: Krivokapic to comment on the interim government

Kovacevic, who represents the Socialist People’s Party in the Working Group, did not specify whether the party will continue to participate in the work of the parliamentary body.

“I will respond to your question whether I will continue to participate in the Working Group with the initiative to ask the president of SDP, Ranko Krivokapic, whether he believes a government of transitional nature is legitimate, and whether he will continue to be the accomplice of DPS in the manipulation of elections. Let’s deal with the legally proven cases of bought ID cards in Podgorica on behalf of the DPS, as stated in European Commission’s this year’s Progress Report on Montenegro. That is why I asked that the Chief State Prosecutor, Ivica Stankovic, submits a report on it to the Working Group”, Kovacevic said.

Asked whether this means that he will boycott the sessions of the Working Group, which continues to work next week, Kovacevic did not give a concrete answer.

“Monday will come, and we shall see”, he said shortly.

Kovacevic said he agrees with the report of the Working Group which states that competent institutions did not implement relevant provisions of the electoral laws on time, but reminds that the SNP did not support the report.

“I didn’t sign the report because the Working Group did not agree to leave the possibility for amendments to the Law on Election of Councillors and Members of Parliament, although it obviously did not achieve its purpose. It did not restore the confidence in the electoral process”, said the SNP official.

Kovacevic did not attend the last session of the Working Group, which was held after the meeting of participating party leaders, which led many to speculate that the SNP will not continue working within the parliamentary dialogue. However earlier, after meeting with party presidents, SNP leader Srdjan Milic announced that his party will continue to participate in the work of this body.
