Krgovic Sarovic: Zabljak faces employee shortages, workers are leaving

Vanja Krgović Šarović

The town of Zabljak has been facing a difficult situation when it comes to labor force as workers leave for other countries and better working conditions, the Director of the Zabljak Tourism Organization, Vanja Krgovic Sarovic, told in a TV show ‘Mreza’ (eng. Network). She pointed out that this might be the first year of recovery following the emergence of Covid.

“Winter season started late but was good. The same is with the summer season because of the weather, but considering the current bookings, we’re going to witness a quality season,” Ms Krgovic Sarovic said.

According to her, traditional tourists are returning and they again believe in the quality of their offer. “We still don’t have data for May, but the ones for April suggest that we had around 5.000 overnight stays in private accommodation and nearly as much in the hotels”.

Tourists from Israel and China are in the spotlight. “We’ve noticed an increased number of tourists from certain countries. In this period, arrivals from Spain and UK have risen”.
