PM Zdravko Krivokapic was explicitly against the official trip of the Police Directorate head Zoran Brdjanin to Brussels, Pobjeda reports. Several Pobjeda’s sources from the very top ranks of the Government have said that the Prime Minister tried in every way to obstruct the joint departure of the Minister of Internal Affairs Sergej Sekulovic and Brdjanin to the seat of the European Union.
“Krivokapic first, on Thursday, at the electronic cabinet meeting, at which Aleksandar Damjanovic was dismissed, refused to put on the agenda a platform on the official trip of Sekulovic and Brdjanin to Brussels. Before the meeting, the head of Krivokapic’s cabinet Ivana Malovic even called Sekulovic’s cabinet in order to remove Zoran Brdjanin from the list of the delegation, which Sekulovic explicitly refused”, Pobjeda’s source claims.
When it seemed that Brdjanin and Sekulovic wouldn’t go to Brussels, Krivokapic, at a sudden cabinet meeting held on Friday, agreed to adopt the platform.
“There was a lot of pressure from foreign partners, so the Prime Minister did not want to risk to displease again Western embassies and Brussels.It has not yet happened that the Government has not adopted a platform on the official trip of its ministers”, claims the sources, pointing to the conflict between the Prime Minister and his ministers.
Sekulovic and Brdjanin have been in Brussels for two days now. They have been received at a high level. In addition to meeting with EU Special Envoy for the Balkans Miroslav Lajcak, a meeting with Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi has also been announced.
