MA debt €19.25 million

At the end of last year, Montenegro Airlines MA owed 19.25 million to the Airports of Montenegro, the business report of the company states. The report was adopted by the Government on Saturday. The Airports had a gross profit of €4.8 million last year, Pobjeda daily reports.

Due to the MA debt, the lawsuits worth €12.7 million were filed, whereas €8.1 should be paid based on final sentences already issued.

Two lawsuits were paid through Central Bank last year. The Airports believe that the subventions to the national airlines is not in accordance with national, and especially international regulations.

This practice is not in compliance with agreements between the Government, Airports and EBRD. There is no more room for further subventions to MA without negative consequences on the stability of air transport system in Montenegro. MA took part in 30.7% of total air traffic last year, and 30.9% in the transport of passengers.
