Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic, said that the last seven and a half months very very difficult for our country, at the same time being the most complex period in the history of DPS.
During the session of Council for monitoring implementation of electoral program of the party, he reminded of the unscrupulous attempt at our system and statehood during the election campaign, that entailed a terrorist attack, RTCG portal reports.
“The goal was clear – to stop Montenegro on its path to NATO and EU, and to have it return to a wrong path and wrong side of history”, Markovic said.
He said that the magnitude of that moment is still insufficiently perceived.
Despite those events, we are getting closer to the goal of joining NATO.
Markovic reminded that the progress towards EU has been impressive, and that our country opened 26 chapters, excepting to open two more. Some chapters are set to be closed as well, which will mark a new phase in relations between Montenegro and EU.
“We are aware that the pace of the progress is not conditioned on the quality of the work. There are great challenges that EU is facing, and expansion policy is not a priority at the moment”, Markovic said.
He said that he expected negotiations to be finalized during his mandate.
Leader of DPS, Milo Djukanovic, said that Montenegro is just a few weeks away from joining NATO, and ever so closer to EU. He is certain that Montenegro will be the first next member of EU.
Former prime minister believes that the main task entails finding a formula for faster economic growth. Citizens must have better life quality.
“We ensured many foreign investments. During the last years, however, we have seen a stagnation in investments. We must take a step further”, Djukanovic said.
He believes that insufficient employment among the youth is “a key economic and social issue”.
