Montenegro and Monaco share civilising and European values and, as small Mediterranean countries, they should cooperate even closer so that our country can better use its resources and potentials, said prime minister Dusko Markovic during a working visit to Monaco. On this occasion, he met Prince Albert II of Monaco and his counterpart, minister of state of the principality Serge Telle.
“How to valorise Montenegro’s natural resources in order to continue increasing the quality of life of our citizens is the key topic at the joint forum two business delegations today and tomorrow. Montenegro has serious resources in the field of tourism, energy and agriculture and the great need to improve and develop its infrastructure. By cooperating with Monaco’s officials, sharing experiences with businessmen of Monaco, we see what we have to do in Montenegro in order to achieve this level of development or to aspire to this level of development,” Markovic said.
He added that on Thursday officials discussed the close cooperation in several areas and on the need to balance potentials. As he said, his initiative to organise meetings of small government countries was accepted.
Telle said that he was satisfied with the meeting with Markovic and that Monaco could serve as an example to Montenegro, as a small country that has good quality public services, good health care system, well-organised educational system and high-quality fiscal policy, which are things it can transfer to Montenegro.
He added that he believes that Monaco will be able to learn something from Montenegro, especially from our experience over the past ten years since Montenegro renewed its independence.
