Montenegro has shown great bravery and patriotism amidst devastating fires that hit the country during the past days, said Prime Minister Dusko Markovic.
“People have been working tirelessly to save properties of citizens and the state, in the conditions of very hot temperature, and in a terrain that is often inacessible. I would like to use this opportunity to thank them and reiterate that the Government and the state will do everything in their power to honor their effort“, Markovic said.
He believes that some of the fires were started on purpose.
“I asked the president of the Bureau for cooridnation of rescue services to schedule a session to discuss this matter. I shall attend the session and we will consider all conditions that contribute to these developments. We believe there are irresponsible citizens, and fires that were started on purpose. There are no declarative ways to deal with that, but we can use all the resources that the state, the police and citizens have to find those who perpetrate such damage to the country. We will respond to any purposeful destruction”, Markovic said.
Markovic believes that all the rescue services responded in a timely manner.
“The state has done everything in its power, and the firefighters did more that what was possible. I would like to extend not only my gratitude, but also deep admiration for their efforts”, Markovic concluded.
Markovic confirmed that Montenegro asked for assistance in this situation, and said that the help is expected to arrive soon.
