Markovic: EPCG’s interests will be protected

Prime minister Dusko Markovic said that the so-called put option was activated and that the government would have obligations related to the Electric Power Company (EPCG) issues next year. He added that in the spirit of good cooperation with A2A, the issue of ownership relations in the EPCG would be solved.

Markovic explained this when asked if the Italian company A2A informed the government that it was in the final phase of negotiations with an American company for the sale of its stake in EPCG and whether the interests of the state would be protected in the case of selling the shares to another company.

“The state has fully and safely secured its interests and they cannot be compromised in any segment,” Markovic emphasised.

Economy minister Dragica Sekulic said that the option was activated and added that the government had not received any information from A2A so far, except for the media speculations.
