MDUP: Ecological settlements for sustainable future

The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property of Montenegro (MDUP) has announced, as they have said, a significant investment by FLH – Future Living & Hospitality Ltd, i.e. the construction of self-sustaining complex throughout the whole country.

Minister Janko Odovic met with representatives of FLH in order to discuss this quite ambitious investment plan for the ever-growing tourism sector of Montenegro.

FLH plans to develop a community hosting 5.000 senior citizens and 3.000 guests, all this to be backed by 2.400 employees.

“The investor’s idea is to build a completely self-sustaining village that will be producing its own water, energy, food, while respecting nature, ecological principles and sustainable economy. The project will be primarily dedicated to pensioners, who will be able to get high-quality healthcare and improved quality of life through activities and socializing. This will be the first project in the world to be built in line with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” it was said in a statement.

According to Minister Odovic, the initial phase of the project will bring an investment worth nearly €1.4 billion, which will significantly boost the local economy by creating job opportunities and improving communal infrastructure.

“This also means jobs for the local population. After the initial phase is finished, representatives of FLH are interested in expanding business, with an aim of doubling the initial investment, which will require an additional one billion euros of investment as well as new jobs,” the Minister noted.

Both Mr Odovic and representatives of FLH discussed possibilities for facilitating the realization of this project, particularly stressing the collaboration with the local population and the Government of Montenegro.

Head of FLH, Ayhan Yeginsu, noted that their company was a leader in the field of hospitality, having an impressive portfolio with over 50 years of combined experience in 40 countries, and successfully implemented 280 projects in the field of real estate development, project management, design, master planning and hospitality management.
