Last year, Embassy of Germany in Podgorica granted last year 937 working visas for Montenegrin citizens.

Agreement on Western Balkans from 2016, defines that every interested individual from the region can find job in Germany and the Deputy President of the Community of Associations of Montenegro in that country, Emira Mustajbašić Ličina, says for “Pobjeda” that our citizens are more and more interested in going there.

“Number of applications for visas is constantly growing. Since the unemployment is still a problem in our country, it is to be expected that in the future, number of applications will be at the same level, or it is possible that it will be even higher”, says Mustajbašić-Ličina.

Young people in particular will keep going abroad since it is a fact that a great number of them doesn’t have appropriate job in Montenegro. Also, some of them aren’t happy with low salaries.

“We still need time to bring everything into order in our country”, said Ličina.

The reason why people leave Montenegro and go to Germany is the impossibility to find job in Montenegro. These are, obviously, tough times for young people.

“A great number of our people, especially at the very beginning of their stay in Germany, is engaged in the building construction and hospitality. Also, many people have found jobs as assistants in nursing homes as well as in other similar institutions in Germany”, says Mustajbašić- Ličina.

People going to Germany to find job are from all parts of Montenegro, but mostly from the north of the country. They are usually between 20 and 40 years old.
