Montenegro has always advocated better economic integration of the Western Balkans

Montenegro has always advocated better economic integration of the Western Balkans, noting the lack of connection, said Montenegrin president Filip Vujanovic at the conference of heads of state and government – Stronger Regional Integration in the Balkans in the Context of the World Bank’s 25 years of Partnership with Bulgaria, which is being held in Sofia.

The conference is organised by the Government of Bulgaria and the World Bank.

Vujanovic said that the project was not a consequence of enlargement fatigue and does not slow down the European integration of the Western Balkans

“However, it is important that the accession of the Western Balkan countries is accelerated within the Brussels administration and in the EU,” the president said adding that the project did not endanger the individual treatment of each state.

“The states will have their own accession process according to their achievements in the EU standards,” he said.

The president reiterated that Montenegro was fully committed to improving the cooperation of the region through the improvement of the transport infrastructure and better and more efficient transport control.
