fDi Intelligence, a part of the Financial Times magazine, has published 2017/18 ranking of global tourism locations with the best potential for investment putting Montenegro the fifth on the list.
When it comes to the countries in the region, Greece has ranked fourth and Croatia seventh on the list, Pobjeda reports.
Thailand has topped fDi’s inaugural ranking, the Maldives is second, while Asian business hub Hong Kong has placed third.
The list is compiled based on comments from visitors, investors and employees, as well as the overall share of tourism in gross domestic product and growth forecasts, according to a report by the World Tourism and Travel Organization.
Locations were determined using the following parameters:
- Countries with at least 10% of GDP derived from tourism receipts; and/or
- Countries with at least 10% of all FDI projects in the tourism cluster
