Montenegro has created conditions for consumers’ protection and exercise of their rights, in accordance with pracitce and EU standards, Ms Nada Đurović, chief market inspector has said.
Ms Đurović said that national legsilation had been harmonized with the acquis communautaire to a great extent and that a lot had been done in the domain of strengthening administrative capacities for the implementation of the set of laws protecting consumers.
“Consumer is entitled to request protection if his/her right directly from the merchant in case he/she is not satisfied with the product or service. If they fail to settle the problem that way, then the person is entitled to address competent inspections”, Ms Đurđić said.
She pointed at the settlement of disputes outside of court and said that a committee for out-of-court settlement of disputes in the Chamber of Commerce had been established.
She also praised cooperation with the Center for Consumer Protection and said that non-government sector which contributed to better and high-quality information and, finally, consumer protection.
Member of Working group for chapter 28 pointed out taht European legislation had been considerably obeyed. She also touched on the Law on Limiting Products and said that surveillance data indicated violation of regulations.
Mr Đurović also commented on supply of shops and pharmacies in Montenegro amid coronavirus situation and pointed out that tardes in Montenegro had been supplied with all types of goods necessary for citizens’ needs.
