Montenegro ordered 22.700 influenza vaccines

Tender procedure for the provision of vaccine against seasonal flu is finished. Around 22.700 four valent vaccines against the flu that have a wide range of effects and offer more efficient and more effective protection have been ordered, said the representatives of the Institute for Public Health.

“Vaccine against flu is immune-biological preparation applied in huge amount of doses worldwide. This year, Montenegro joined the group of the most developed countries in the world by ensuring the so called four valent vaccine against flu”, said the representatives of the Institute for Public Health.

The vaccine called VAXIGRIP TETRA is expected to arrive in Montenegro by 15 October.

The ordered quantity will be enough for proper maintenance of citizens’ health.

Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is an acute respiratory infection caused by virus. It spreads in yearly outbreaks in the form of smaller of bigger epidemics or individual cases usually between November and March.

“Due to a great number of different factors, it is almost impossible to predict the intensity of disease in the forthcoming season. The main feature of the flu is its activity, the clinical picture it produces, number of diseased people and the duration of mass diseases. Given all this, flu is considered to be the most important infectious disease from the aspect of public health”, said the representatives of the IPH.

When it comes to preventive measures and individual protection, vaccination is by far the most the best measure.
