At the end of this year, Montenegro is going to open Consulate-General in Istanbul. Plans are afoot for opening embassies in Denmark and the Netherlands, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Montenegro has got 38 diplomatic and consular representation offices: 28 embassies, six missions and four consulates-general, inclusive of a Consulate-General of Montenegro in Istanbul, which is to be open at the end of year.
“The Government continuously works on strengthening diplomatic and consular ties at most important political and geo-strategic addresses, with the aim of meeting foreign policy criteria”, said representatives of the Ministry.
By widening consular network, the Government meets the needs and interests of diaspora and tries to tackle diaspora’s status issues and improve ties with the homeland.
“In accordance with Government’s earlier decision, opening of the first Montenegro’s embassy in Denmark has been planned, given the fact that a great number of Montenegro’s diaspora lives there”.

Diplomatic and consular network has been provided with €14.495.443.23 for 2019.
“Diplomats’ salaries include basic wage and special allowance which is a product of gross base for the calculation of costs and living costs index. Heads of diplomatic and consular representation offices regularly submit reports on revenues and property”, said the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
