Montenegro is expected to attract more tourists by introducing new air routes, including the opening of a Wizz Air base in Podgorica. Officials say improved connectivity will bring both short-term visitors (such as weekend and city-break travellers) and those staying longer.
Podgorica is being promoted as a versatile destination with nature, nightlife, and proximity to attractions like Skadar Lake, while also serving as a convenient starting point for exploring the country. New flights could also reduce reliance on nearby airports in Tirana, Dubrovnik, and Belgrade.
Tourism representatives highlight that the routes will not be limited to summer, helping extend the season and position Montenegro as a year-round destination, while attracting a more diverse range of international visitors.
