The Bemax company has bored both pipes for the Mrke tunnel on the Bar – Boljare highway. Thus the tunnel has been fully born.
The left pipe of the Mrke tunnel is 829 metres long, whereas the right one is 800 metres long.
This is the fourth tunnel on the Smokovac-Uvac-Matesevo section. Prior to it, tunnelling of the Klopot (subsection 2), Vilac (subsection 2) and Jabucki Krs (subsection 4) was finished.
Vehicles travelling from Podgorica to Kolasin will exit Mrke onto the Moracica bridge.
Boring work began last December. China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) earlier announced it was very pleased with the pace of works on Section 1 and that the company would continue intensive works on the remaining two section tunnels – Suka and Vezisnik.
On this section, in addition to these tunnels, works are underway for the Gornje Mrke and Moracica bridges.
All pillars on the Moracica bridge have been completed and preparations for joining these are currently underway. A total of 37% of work on all bridges has been carried out.
The construction of 42 tunnels and 92 bridges and viaducts is planned on the Bar-Boljare highway.
The highway construction will cost the state €809m, 85% of which will be financed through a loan from the Chinese Exim Bank.
