The Municipality of Niksic still has not received the first annual compensation in the amount of around €800,000 from the Serb Republic for the submerged territory, Minister of Energy Sasa Mujovic has told CdM.

According to Mujovic, it was allegedly promised that the compensation would be paid by the end of the year.

However, he has added that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, headed by Vladimir Jokovic, took over the responsibility for the implementation of this process. Minister Mujovic did not comment further on this issue.

Hydro-power plants on the Trebisnjica will retroactively start paying Niksic annual hydroaccumulation fees amounting to €600,000 for the submerged land under Lake Bileca, which will depend on the production at the downstream power plants.

This was concluded in May in Trebinje after a meeting between the Minister of Energy and Mining of the Serb Republic, Petar Djokic, and the Director of Electric Power Company of the Serb Republic, Luka Petrovic, with the Minister of Energy and Mining of Montenegro, Sasa Mujovic, and his associates.

After the meeting, Mujovic said that the direct benefit of that meeting was the agreement to pay back the compensation for the submerged land.
