NKT unveils plans for Phase II of lifting lockdown measures

We have to listen to our medical professionals in the days that lie ahead. A favorable epidemiological situation enables us to ease lockdown measures and we are preparing to do it gradually. Our principle is – we must abide by the measures until their lifting of total abolition. On the contrary, we will have to extend and introduce tougher ones, deputy PM and president of the National Coordination Body, Mr Milutin Simović, told the press.

Coronavirus in Montenegro: new reported cases/total number of cases by day/number of recovered coronavirus persons and number of currently infected persons

In case we keep the situation under control, Mr Simović added, phase II of the relaxation of lockdown measures will start May 4.

“Shops will reopen, as well as craft shops, service shops, hairdressing and beauty salons, fitness centers, bookstores, dental ambulance, driving schools, rent-a-car services, museums and galleries…” he announced.

In addition, it will be possible to go to your vacation homes in other municipalities.

“We will also allow taxi transport in cities, as well as the local city transport in municipalities with no registered coronavirus cases,” Mr Simović explained.

Achieving these goals and lifting countermeasures will depend on results of the entire Montenegrin society in meeting six major criteria:

Criteria are:

  1. To keep the spread of the infection under control;
  2. To keep up with testing, as well as with monitoring self-isolation and contacts;
  3. To continue paying special attention to healthcare institutions, adult care homes and other vulnerable categories;
  4. To establish clearly defined preventive measures for every post;
  5. To continue reducing the risks of importing the virus from abroad;
  6. Full commitment of the citizens – as every individual plays a key role in maintaining stability.

He also added that they have been monitoring the situation in the regional and wider context as well, as this global crisis requires a collective response.
