No one’s going to invest in Montenegro any more, a businessman Refik Radoncic, the first president of the New York-based Gusinje Foundation, says in an interview for Pobjeda daily. He also indicates how worried he is because of the situation in Montenegro.
On the change of power in Montenegro two years ago and whether he expected progress in Montenegro, Mr Radoncic says: “I do agree that after 30 years, the government should have changed, but not like this. It was about high time to introduce some changes. You find yourself in a comfort zone, make some mistakes, there’s no control and a change needs to happen one day. We expected progress but this what’s happening right now, I don’t get it. One cannot undermine the state. We’re sending a wrong picture to the world and regressing. And instead of dealing with economic issues so that this people live better, we’re dealing only with the religious ones.”
Speaking about the political situation in Montenegro, he adds: “Everybody’s disappointed with the political situation. What I hate the most is nationalism. I cannot understand that someone despises his own country, flag, language…”
Unfavourable situation for investments
“We’ve created the unfavourable situation for any investment. After all this, will a normal person come to Montenegro? I’m not talking about all the mistakes of the former government, but we have to be aware of the fact that it brought several big investors.”
