After investor Mohamed Alabbar confirmed he would divert investment onto the north of the country, the municipalities from this part of Montenegro reacted promptly, expressing readiness to attract investment through concrete projects, which would contribute to the development of the north, open new jobs and encourage economic growth, Pobjeda daily says.
Presidents of the northern region of Montenegro highlight they’re ready for Mr Alabbar’s arrival, as well as all other serious investors, with one condition – that all projects are realized transparently, in line with laws and in the interest of the local communities and residents.
Through the offered projects in the field of tourism, energy and infrastructure, the local self-governments wish to use this opportunity so that northern Montenegro becomes a new attractive investment destination. Some municipalities, like Berane and Gusinje, have already drafted concrete projects and submitted them to Mr Alabbar’s team, hoping it’d be a significant step towards a sustainable development of this region.
By signing and ratifying the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism and Real Estate Development between the two countries, the environment for serious investors has been created, while the public has been expecting first concrete moves in this context. As Pobjeda learns, the first concrete actions are taken by Mohamed Alabbar, Emaar Properties founder and one of the most important investors from Middle East.
Although initially planned for the coastal town of Ulcinj, it’s clear now that Mr Alabbar is going to move his investment to the north of Montenegro.
