Parents of the students of Podgorica’s Oktoih elementary school have told CdM that they do not agree with the announcement that, due to being overcrowded, older classes of elementary school students will have to attend classes between 1p.m. and 7 p.m. The parents say that they will request that this decision be revoked and continue with the current shift schedule.
The Ministry of Education, on the other hand, says that, after consultation with the parents, the School Administration, which is, in accordance with the General Law on Education and Training responsible for the formal decision, informed the Ministry of Education that it would solve the problem for this school year by redistributing shifts. Namely, pupils of attending the 1st, 2nd and 4th grades will start classes at 7 a.m., pupils of the 3rd, 5th and 6th grades will start classes at 10:15 a.m., while pupils attending the 7th, 8th and 9th grades will start school at 1:30 p.m. and finish by 6:30 p.m.
However, the parents disagree with this decision, because, as they state, the school made this decision without the consent of the Parents’ Council, without announcement or any agreement with the parents.
