Outgoing Minister Spajic acts according to principle – after me, the flood

Milojko Spajić

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) report on Montenegro unequivocally has shown that the Europe Now program carries significant fiscal risks without additional measures to increase revenues and reduce expenditures. In other words, the IMF has warned that the program, as it is now, is not fiscally sustainable, despite the claims of the Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajic.

A few days ago, only on the basis of income data for two months, Spajic self-proclaimed the success and sustainability of the Europe Now program. And that is quite hurried, and without information on the execution of expenditures for January 2022, because it is to be expected that expenditures on salaries in the public sector have increased compared to January 2021.

What is interesting is that the Ministry continued with its economic and propaganda program – Europe Now, as many have characterized it, and stories about its fiscal sustainability, immediately after the publication of the IMF Report on Montenegro.
