Parliament elected Jovetic to replace Vukcevic

Although the Niksic basic court yesterday ordered Parliament to return Nikola Vukcevic to the RTCG Council, MPs elected Ivan Jovetic, a teaching assistant at the Donja Gorica University, to replace Vukcevic.

Jovetic was supported by 38 MPs of the ruling coalition, two of them abstained from voting and one voted against. Opposition MPs did not attend the vote.

A procedure for the election of another member of the RTCG Council is ongoing. At the end of last year Parliament dismissed Goran Djurovic because he allegedly had conflict of interests.

A new member of the public broadcaster’s Council who will replace Djurovic will be elected upon the proposal of the NGO sector dealing with the protection of human rights and freedoms.

As a reminder, the basic courts in Podgorica and Niksic issued decisions on temporary measures, requiring Goran Djurovic and Nikola Vukcevic to be returned to their positions in the RTCG Council.
